Six Things Not To Do After A Bradenton Auto Accident

Six things not to do if you are injured in a Sarasota or Bradenton auto accident:

1. Do not fail to report the accident as you need to call the police & exchange insurance information.

2. Do not admit fault, but do tell the investigating officer your version of what happened.

3. Do not neglect going for immediate medical attention, via ambulance or on your own, even if you don’t think you are hurt bad. Delayed medical care can damage your credibility and claim.

4. Do not give a written or recorded statement to any insurance adjuster, unless and until you have an attorney and he or she is present. Do not discuss the accident with anyone except your attorney. Loose lips sink ships.

5. Do not lose the evidence. Do not alter, damage, dispose of or destroy any physical evidence, such as your vehicle until your attorney has had a chance to photograph or video it to document the damage and nature of the impact or collision. Preserve all evidence through photos or video or other physical evidence. Do not forget to photograph or video the accident scene, and your injuries. Do not forget to identify and list witnesses.

6. Do not go it alone without an attorney. Do not delay consulting with an injury attorney or else critical evidence could be lost before it could be documented for later proof. The insurance company has experienced personal injury lawyers working on their side and so should you. Do not negotiate or settle your claim without an attorney. In fact, do not settle your claim, even if you have an injury attorney, until you are released by your doctor and you have finished your treatment.
